Darrelle Revis does not want to play anymore?

Darrelle Revis has been a major disappointment for the Jets this season, and now there is chatter that the former star cornerback may no longer want to continue playing.

The New York Daily News’ Manish Mehta published a column about Revis on Wednesday in which he ripped the former Pro Bowler for being so bad this season. Some of Mehta’s comments came from a “Revis confidant” who said the cornerback “tanked it” this season.

From Mehta’s column:

The Jets cornerback’s decline is due, in part, to his questionable drive and lack of commitment and discipline to maintain his body.

“He’s done,” a Revis confidant told the Daily News. “If he had his way, he’d be done right now. He doesn’t want to play anymore. He’s made a lot of money.”

Revis is in the second year of a five-year, $ 70 million deal. He is making $ 17 million this season, and based on the way he’s played, $ 1 million would be more than he’s worth. Not only has Revis been burned in coverage, but he also is displaying a glaring lack of effort on tackling.

The Jets are well aware of the issue, as their GM recently acknowledged Revis is not giving a full effort. Mehta’s column also encouraged Revis to accept a pay cut next season.
